My [evolving] framework to write
Why write?
To be considered a writer by others, I think that such one has to not only write long papers that are cohesive and engaging to the audience it pertains to, but also publish said papers and, with those published papers, have published a minimum of one 150-page book.
As far as being a writer is concerned, the above parameters are arbitrary.
I, on the other hand, believe this to be my personal baseline to “claim” the identity of writer.
Why write to begin with? My dearest mentor intensified the desire to write when he explained, like no other before, why it’s integral to learn to write competently. To write is to think. If I can write well, continue writing, be criticized for said writing, (by the right people, hopefully) develop my fluency and comprehension of the ideas I read about, I become (according to him) deadly.
More than that, I’ve recently grown to desire to write about the virtues integral to safe passage to the Kingdom. Not just as floating ideals but embodied, in real time, in men and women I admire and/or are admirable by those I admire.
How will I structure the writing?
I’m sure if you’re reading this, you’re thinking “grammar and writing lessons… really?”
This is not that.
I know you have the capacity to go watch a YouTube video or seek out your local English teacher for a crash course on Proper Writing Skills.
The purpose here is for the road blocks I encounter when it comes to the actual writing of these personal papers:
Developmentally shallow; I get to the point way to quick assuming the reader will agree with my conclusion without building the metaphorical bridge of formed ideas that connects the reader to the point.
I genuinely don’t like how long it takes to write and then edit, delete, rewrite, and edit some more. The process is SO enjoyable, but feels like time flies on me. as my dear mother likes to say “This is America, ጊዜ የለም”
It’s easier for me to think, and then speak. The option to break it apart in chunks is much more available than it is to write a paper. The better route I’m forcing myself to pursue, however, is the challenge and the opportunity to become “deadlier.”
So this writing sent out is a shout out. To anyone who takes the time to read what I write, and to the person I desire to become.
Inside, I am not what I appear to be. Heal me.
